Training Goal
The “Occupational Medical Assistant” study prepares its graduates to take on responsible tasks in the planning, preparation, implementation and follow-up of occupational health care activities.
In addition to basic knowledge of basic occupational health models and specific knowledge of factors influencing the health and performance of employees, application-oriented skills in dealing with the necessary methods and instruments are taught. The interdisciplinary competencies include medical, psychological, legal, technological and economic factors. The main focus is on the areas of:
- Risk analysis,
- Medical examinations,
- Planning and implementation of measures.
These essentially consist of:
- recognising factors relevant to health and performance in the workplace,
- evaluating these factors with regard to their possible effects on people,
- developing and contributing to the implementation of improvement measures,
- assessing individual health impairments with regard to their possible work-related causes and their effects on future performance and work ability.
The training focuses on two main objectives: acquiring the necessary theoretical content (knowledge competence) and practising and applying the knowledge using concrete examples (=Competence to act).
The scientifically sound explanation of medical, psychological, technological and economic interrelationships plays just as important a role in occupational medicine training as the practical preparation for your function as an independent, expert for employers and employees.
