Qualification profile

The university course "Transcultural Medicine and Diversity Care - Master of Science (Continuing Education)" imparts an in-depth, scientifically and methodically high-quality education oriented towards lasting knowledge, which enables graduates to make professional decisions and take professional action on the basis of acquired transcultural competence in all areas of health care and makes them internationally competitive. Transcultural competence is a key qualification and means the ability to grasp and understand individual life worlds in special situations and in different contexts and to derive appropriate, adapted courses of action from this.

The qualification profile to be achieved with the help of the university course is furthermore oriented towards the strategic goal of the Medical University of Vienna with regard to "diversity management in human resources development".

Based on the professional requirements, the university course "Transcultural Medicine and Diversity Care" imparts qualifications in the following categories:

    Graduates have sound specialist knowledge in the field of transcultural medicine.
    Graduates have the competence to react to conflicts/problem situations in a culturally, linguistically and age-sensitive and professional manner.
    Graduates acquire the ability to critically reflect on previous experiences and personal attitudes.

Graduates think and act holistically and interdisciplinarily. They can propose creative culturally, linguistically and age-sensitive solutions and evaluate them professionally with their analytical skills.

Graduation and academic degree

  1. The university course is successfully completed when all prescribed examinations and the written Master's thesis have been positively assessed in accordance with the examination regulations.
  2. The successful completion of the university course shall be certified by a degree certificate and the academic degree "Master of Science (Continuing Education)" - abbreviated to "MSc (CE)" shall be awarded by the Medical University of Vienna in accordance with § 56 para 2 in conjunction with § 87 para 2 UG.
  3. The individual modules and the courses assigned to them with their total number of hours and their individual grades as well as the ECTS credits shall be stated in the degree certificate. Courses whose participation was evaluated as "successfully participated/not successfully participated" shall also be listed. Furthermore, the title and the grade of the written Master's thesis/written final thesis shall be listed.
