Research interests

My main research focus is to evaluate and characterize the pathways and molecular mechanisms involed in the PRF function which is widely applied clinically for soft and hard tissue regeneration. To have more insight into the regenerative role of PRF, proteomic and genomic profileing of the PRF with the main focus on TGFbeta signaling is conducted. The anti inflammatory and anti osteoclastogenic effect of PRF and the capacity to neutralize the cytotoxic effect of hydrogen peroxide are studied in detail.

Techniques, methods & infrastructure

Murin bone marrow cells are used for in vitro analysis of macrophage polarization and study inflammation. Primary cells from human (gingival fibroblasts) are applied for in vitro analysis of the role of PRF in TGFbeta signaling pathway. A broad spectrum of biochemical, cell biological, and imaging techniques are used.
