  • Curriculum Commission for University Courses
  • Habilitation Commissions

In addition, the Senate may establish other collegial bodies to advise or decide on individual tasks, such as the "Senate Commission for Complaints in Student Affairs".

The commissions fulfil important design and supervisory functions at the MedUni Vienna.

The Senate has the possibility to set up independent working groups in addition to the mandatory commissions.

The continuation for the following already existing working groups was decided at the constituent meeting of the Senate in 2019:

  • Working group"Awarding the professional title of university professor"
  • Working group "Honours on behalf of the statutes"
  • Editorial Committee "Honorary Teaching"
  • Working group "Dentistry"
  • Working group "Habilitations Revision of the criteria"

The following working groups were newly established by the new appointment of the Senate in 2019:

  • Working group "MedUniVienna 2030":
The working group serves the strategic discussion and preparation of concepts to continuously improve the research environment at the MedUni Vienna. The topics dealt within the working group include the strengthening of existing focal points and the establishment of new research areas, the promotion of young researchers and career development, as well as core facilities and infrastructure. The aim of the working group is to look ahead and develop a vision of how the MedUni Vienna will position itself in an international environment in 2030.
    Coordinator: Univ. Prof. Wilfried Ellmeier
  • Working group "Cooperation MUW/KAV":
The working group discusses the points of contact within the framework of cooperation between the MedUni Vienna and the City of Vienna.
    Coordinator: Assoc. Prof. Martin Andreas
  • Working group "PhD-Recruiting":
The working group develops guidelines and processes to implement a joint recruitment process for all PhD programmes at the MedUni Vienna according to international standards. Subsequently, measures are also to be developed to provide optimum support for PhD students during their time at the MedUni Vienna and during their next career steps. This should also ensure greater visibility and attractiveness of the MedUni Vienna as an international centre for biomedical research.
    Coordinator: Univ. Prof. Christoph Binder
  • Working group "Reputation of the MedUni Vienna":
The working group is concerned with making the services of the MedUni Vienna visible. Our university has much to offer and is among the leading universities in Europe, but there is still much to be done to improve our reputation, our attractiveness for students and lecturers, as well as bettering our scientific results. The task of the working group is not only to evaluate the MedUni Vienna in an international comparison, but also to point out internal and external measures for our further progress. The working group is in active exchange with the Rectorate's Task Force of the same name.
    Coordinator: Univ. Prof. Bruno Podesser
  • Working group "Life at the MedUni Vienna":
The MedUni Vienna is a multifaceted institution with numerous employees, a wide range of tasks and a great deal of social responsibility. The working group defines fields of action and challenges, formulates goals and develops concrete solutions to promote cooperation at the MedUni Vienna. The results are continuously evaluated in terms of impact orientation.
    Coordinator: Dr. Miriam Hufgard-Leitner
