Research interests
My research focus is on biomedical optics and its application in real world medicine. Especially the translation of developed innovative technologies to the clinics is a key objective. We are addressing with our research unmet needs in medial diagnostics that aim at improving the quality of live by enabling early diagnosis when treatment is most effective. An important character of our research is a balanced mix of on the one hand basic research questions by elucidating new phenomena in optics with a potential for medial application; on the other hand we are working in close cooperation with major industry partners for medical products in order to help translating mature developments from bench to bedside.
