Research interests

Improved survival after burn injury has led to elongated ICU stay and as a consequence increases the risk for infectious complications. My current focus is to understand the importance of organisms that cause bloodstream infections at the ICU for burn trauma of the General Hospital of Vienna, Austria. The main objective is to identify risk factors for bloodstream infections caused by different pathogens. Furthermore we aim to demonstrate changes in bloodstream infections pathogen profile over the ICU hospitalization period overall and dependent on baseline risk factors and describe mortality for different pathogens during ICU hospitalization.
