- Working Group Schlöglhofer - Mechanical Circulatory Support
Head: Thomas Schlöglhofer
Research Area: The interdisciplinary research group of Dr. Schlöglhofer focuses on innovative technologies and research approaches in the field of mechanical circulatory support systems (MCS). The goal is to enhance the safety, efficiency, and long-term compatibility of cardiac support systems such as left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) and Impella systems using state-of-the-art methods from engineering, medicine, and computer science.

Research interests
Mechanical circulatory support (MCS) has become an essential treatment option for patients with advanced heart failure. My research focus is dedicated to the analysis of pump data, aiming to obtain deeper insights into patient-pump interactions, their underlying hemodynamic responses and the mechanisms of adverse events. These insights can then contribute to the optimization of future device operation, support data-driven decision-making, and ultimately aim to improve clinical outcomes and recovery rates.
