Research interests
I apply my expertise in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) to non-invasively evaluate and quantify metabolites in vivo, with a particular focus on skeletal muscle and brain metabolism. My research investigates how ageing and exercise interventions influence metabolic function, aiming to identify biomarkers of healthy ageing and inform strategies to preserve metabolic health and physical function.
Techniques, methods & infrastructure
I have extensive expertise in in vivo proton Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (¹H-MRS) for the non-invasive quantification of metabolites in skeletal muscle and brain, applied in the context of ageing and exercise interventions. I work across both 3T and 7T MR platforms, leveraging the higher spectral resolution and sensitivity of ultra-high field imaging to detect subtle metabolic changes. My methodological expertise spans spectral acquisition protocol, and quantification/post-processing using software such as LCModel and jMRUI, ensuring robust and reproducible metabolite measurements across study populations.
