The Medicine and Dentistry degree programmes at MedUni Vienna are very popular. In order to ensure the high quality of the education, places are limited and admission is strictly regulated.
Contingent Rules for Places at the University
Apart from the necessary proof of sufficient German skills and the admissions examination that is mandatory for all applicants, the places for the degree programmes at the Medical University of Vienna are divided into three contingents of different size.
- EU citizens and people accorded the same status, who have an Austrian secondary school leaving qualification-> Austrian contingent (75% of places)
- EU citizens and people accorded the same status, who obtained their secondary school leaving qualification within or outside the EU-> EU contingent (20% of places)
- Third-country citizens, who obtained their secondary school leaving qualification within or outside the EU->Non-EU contingent (5% of places)
During the registration for the Admissions Test (MedAT), applicants already have to state to which of the three quotas they feel they belong. During the assessment they will be listed accordingly. The selected contingent will be checked retroactively and places that may have been gained improperly will be retracted.
