Research interests

As a member of the psychooncological team my main research focus is to acquire data regarding psychosocial variables (e.g. gender, income, education, anxiety, depression) for psychosocial benefit especially for patients diagnosed with cancer. Furthermore we are focusing on monitoring and management of chemotherapy-related toxicities of cancer treatment by using the Advanced Symptom Management System (ASyMS). ASyMS is a mobile phone based remote monitoring system and enables real time monitoring of patient symptoms during chemotherapy. We will test the short and long-term effects of the ASyMS intervention of patients with breast, colorectal or hematological cancers (Hodgkin´s disease or non-Hodgkin lymphoma) across 13 participating clinical sites in Europe. Additionally we will develop and test Predictive Risk Models to predict chemotherapy-related toxicity in patients with cancers. Another focus of our research is to evaluate the effectiveness of oncological rehabilitation in Austria.
