Before moving to Vienna, I studied for a Masters degree in Physics at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, graduating in June 2015. My Masters thesis was in the field of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). In my PhD here at the Medical University of Vienna I am continuing in this field with my current main focus being the design and assembly of an OCT system. Once this system is complete, it will be used for research on the imaging of ocular pathology in Alzheimer's disease.
Techniques, methods & infrastructure
A Fourier domain PS-OCT system is being constructed which is tailored for the in vivo functional imaging of Alzheimer's disease pathology in the retina of animal models. Upon completion, longitudinal studies can begin and appropriate registration and segmentation software will be developed.
