The project explores how astrocytes contribute to synaptic integration and plasticity at spinal nociceptive synapses, with particular emphasis on sex-specific mechanisms and glial adaptations that may influence the transition from acute to chronic pain, as well as its resolution. This contract is for a duration of four years, starting in November 2025.
Your Tasks
- Use advanced experimental techniques to investigate astrocyte–neuron interactions in the spinal dorsal horn, including patch-clamp electrophysiology, high-resolution imaging, chemogenetic manipulation of glial activity, and behavioral assays in rodent models
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets from neurophysiological recordings, imaging studies, and behavioral experiments
- Present research findings at internal seminars, external conferences, and scientific meetings
- Actively engage in the Neuroscience PhD Program, including participation in coursework, journal clubs, and training events
