The MedUniVienna-CeMM Pharmacoscopy Alliance: Kick-Off Meeting on the WWTF LS16-034 – Precision Medicine Collaboration

06. März 2017
15:00 - 18:00

CeMM Seminar Room, 8th floor

About the meeting: In light of the importance that research on precision, molecular and personalized medicine has had at the Medical University Vienna and at CeMM, the Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, this meeting presents the results of a collaboration between the Division of Hematology and Hemostaseology, Department of Internal Medicine I and the Superti-Furga and Kubicek laboratories at CeMM. The results are based on a technology platform called “Pharmacoscopy” and formed the basis for a successful application for funding through the Wiener-, Wissenschafts-, Forschungs- und Technologiefonds (WWTF) program on Precision Medicine. The meeting on March 6th represents the “kick-off meeting of the WWTF-sponsored collaboration. The funded project aims to break resistance of refractory blood cancers through ex vivo automated image-based analysis of drug action. Thus, the Pharmacoscopy approach provides a very concrete and actionable platform for precision medicine tuned to the treatment of resistant blood cancer patients. The meeting reviews the past achievements, illustrates the planned research and provides for some speculation about the future by many of the protagonists of this exciting saga. After the meeting the stakeholders and interested colleagues will be able to meet informally in a get-together.
