Patient-reported outcomes constitute an integral part of health outcomes measurement and are the basis of a value-based health care model. They are an essential driving force for patient empowerment and tight monitoring of disease symptoms and side-effects. However, patient-reported outcome and experience measures are still often missing or insufficiently utilized in realworld data. In line with the past events related to our “Qualitative Methods and Patient-Reported Outcomes Forum” in Austria, we aim to open the floor for discussions about health-related outcomes and patient involvement in research with our second outcomes research breakfast at the Medical University of Vienna. How can patient-reported outcomes be efficiently used in health care with regard to self-management and empowerment? Can patients benefit from these results in clinical care? Do we cover all relevant information with clinical scores and indices for patient treatment? For this outcomes research breakfast, we have invited experts and researchers in the field of health care and patient involvement to share and discuss recent research results and health care strategies.
