Research interests
Within visceral surgery my main interest is endocrine surgery.
The focus is on the surgical treatment of diseases affecting the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands as well as the diffuse neuroendocrine gastro-intestinal-pancreatic system.
Techniques, methods & infrastructure
Early diagnosis of various endocrine diseases by biochemical screening (e.g. calcitonin screening in thyroid nodular disease) and a more individualized (“tailored”) surgical approach reduces the surgical trauma applying minimally-invasive surgical techniques (e.g. minimally invasive [open] parathyroidectomy, endoscropic adrenalectomy, laparoscopic pancreatic recection)
