Nr39 Medicine II, Reference number: 680/25

With around 6.500 employees and 8.600 students, the Medical University of Vienna is one of the largest top-level biomedical research and teaching institutions in Europe. The Department of Medicine II is looking for a part-time (30 hours per week) PhD-Position: Interventional cardiology, heart catheterization, pacemaker implantation, His-ablation, electrophysiological knowledge (m/f/x) (with immediate effect). This is a contract for until 31.05.2028.

 

In the frame of our EU project, we conduct preclinical experiments to analyse the electrophysiological and clinical properties of a newly constructed pacemaker. We perform the preclinical experiments at the Center for Biomedical Research and Translational Surgery of the Medical University of Vienna.
We are searching a trained medical doctor, or a medical student either with knowledge of pacemaker implantation or willingness to learn invasive cardiology, inclusive basic electrophysiology, pacemaker implantation and heart catheterization.

 

Your Tasks

  • Performing large animal experiments with pacemaker implantation and His-bundle ablation; Both of these main tasks can be learned during the first phase of the PhD job (appr. 6-8 months), but relevant basic medical knowledge is necessary
  • Performing heart catheterization and pressure volume loop investigations in preclinical experiments; These tasks can also be learned and trained in the first period of the job
  • Administration of the project, writing reports, summaries
  • Analysing the wet lab data, and experiments-associated data
  • Publication activities and preparation of external funding applications

Your Profile

  • Medical doctor diploma, or medical student with the necessary basic knowledge on pacemaker and heart catheterization;
  • Experience in medicine and biology
  • Experience with clinic-related research is preferable
  • Very good English spoken and written, preferably good German language,
  • Open and flexible personality and integration in our nice lab team

The minimum monthly salary for this position (Uni-KV, VerwGr. B1) is currently Euro 2.786, -- gross (14x per year) on a part-time basis and may be increased by taking into account relevant previous experience and other salary components related to the specificities of the job.
