Assistant Professor in Translational Immunology/ Immunometabolism for the Messerli Research Institute of Human Animal Interactions (Tenure Track)
according to § 99 (5) University Law 2002 (UG) is announced.

 

The Medical University of Vienna is one of Europe’s premiere institutions for biomedical and clinical research. The Messerli Research Institute is dedicated to researching the human-animal relationship and its foundations in the fields of animal cognition and behaviour, comparative medicine, and the ethics of the human-animal relationship. We are looking for a highly qualified independent scientist in the field of immunology and immunometabolism with enthusiasm for interdisciplinary and collaborative research, and commitment to teaching.

The candidate is expected to have an outstanding expertise in experimental immunology with translational impact. We are particularly looking for candidates pursuing cutting-edge research in immunometabolism on both the cellular and organ level. The ideal candidate expands and cross-links with existing strengths within our university such as e.g. immunology and inflammation biology, metabolism, cancer and clinical sciences and within the Messerli Research Institute of Human Animal Interactions and is expected to share her:his time and commitment at both institutions.

Your profile:

  • Completed scientific or medical education with PhD or equivalent degree.
  • International recognition in the respective research area.
  • Successful and continuous acquisition of peer-reviewed third-party funding.
  • Educational and didactic qualifications including supervision of Masters and PhD students.  
  • Diversity and gender competence.
  • International working experience.

We offer:

The successful candidate will be offered a tenure-track Assistant Professor for a maximum duration of six years. Should the candidate meet the conditions stipulated in the qualification agreement, she:he will be promoted to tenured Associate Professor. Conditions and criteria are defined in the official career track guidelines of the university (Career scheme for the scientific University staff according to §99 Abs. 5 University Act 2002 “New qualification agreement” - https://www.meduniwien.ac.at/web/karriere/karriereentwicklung-an-der-meduni-wien/). The gross salary for this position is based on the collective agreement for university employees (§49, A2) and may be adjusted depending on previous work experience.

The position will be embedded within the dynamic research environment of the Center of Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology at the Medical University of Vienna and co-affiliated with the Messerli Institute at the Veterinary University Vienna. The Messerli Research Institute and the Medical University of Vienna provides an excellent research environment including state-of-the-art research core facilities and an international PhD program and various platforms which bring together scientists across departments and disciplines.
