Prerequisites for Admission

(1) Prerequisite for admission to MC SUD is a proof of:

- A completed bachelor's degree of at least 180 ECTS (or comparable degree) in one of the following disciplines:

- Human Medicine

- Biology

- Dentistry

- Cultural and Social anthropology

- Psychology

- Sociology and Social work

- Psychotherapy

- Political science

- Health Sciences / Health studies

- Philosophy / Social sciences

- Nursing science

- Pedagogy / Social pedagogy

- Nutritional sciences

- Communication sciences

- Pharmacy

- Law

- Economic sciences

- Theology

and:

- Relevant professional experience of at least three years in one of the following areas:

- Medical treatment and integrative care of individuals with SUD.

- Addiction prevention and/or risk reduction in SUD.

- Scientific activity in the field of SUD (neuroscience, medicine, psychology, psychotherapy science, law, economics, etc.)

- Teaching activity in the field of SGS at an accredited post-secondary educational institution

- Work in other professions that are concerned with the development or psychosocial consequences of SUD on an individual or societal level (such as pedagogues in schools or special education institutions, persons who, for example, in family or social counseling institutions, are concerned with the counseling or care of children and adolescents who are directly or indirectly affected by or at risk for SUD).

(2) Applicants must prove that they have the necessary knowledge of English (preferentially at level B2), either by means of internationally recognized language certificates/diplomas or diplomas (e.g. school-leaving certificate based on teaching in

this language, completion of a course of study in the language of instruction in question) or by means of an examination by the academic course directors. Proof of proficiency may be waived if the language of instruction is the first language of the applicant.

(3) In addition, computer skills are required which enable the trouble-free use of a teaching and learning platform as well as the use of literature databases. Also, internet access will be necessary (at sufficient bandwidth) to follow online streaming of transmitted content.

(4) The application for admission must be accompanied by a letter of motivation and a curriculum vitae.

(5) The academic course director shall review the suitability of the applicants on the basis of the documents submitted and, if necessary, a personal interview.

(6) Admission is only possible before the start of the university course.

(7) Exceptional cases for admission after the start of the university course may only be approved by the curriculum director upon proposal of the academic course director, provided that the completion of equivalent teaching and learning content can be proven.

Admission Procedure

(1) All applicants must successfully complete an admission procedure in order to be admitted to the university master course. For this admission procedure, the written application documents are used and a personal admission interview (either in person or by telephone/video conference, etc.) is conducted.

a.         The written application must be accompanied by all the documents mentioned above.

b.         In the personal interview, the applicant's motivation and objectives as well as background knowledge and specializations will be asked.

(2) The academic course director examines the submitted documents, conducts a personal interview and prepares a proposal for admission for the rectorate.
