There are three types of lectures in the “MolSignTrans” PhD program:
- Basic courses
- Journal Clubs
- Thesis Seminars
Brief description of the various lectures:
1) Basic Courses:
Interdisciplinary interactive cycle of courses discussing the respective program topic in its full length.
Basic Lecture (BVO): held each second winter semester in the first week of December; written exam (single/multiple choice test) at the end of the semester; regular attendance is not mandatory but strongly recommended in order to be able to pass the exam!
Basic Seminar (BSE): held each second winter semester in the first week of December; attendance is mandatory and will be checked!
important: the subject matters taught in the BSE are part of the doctoral viva examination!
2) Journal Clubs (JCs):
recent scientific articles of a given research field are analysed and discussed:
→ aim at the acquisition of critical evaluation and discussion of scientific literature
3) Thesis seminars (TSs):
courses dealing with specific aspects of the program topic and specific methodology; PhD students present their own work
These courses are currently offered:
- JC: Explorative and preclinical drug development- typical ways and challenges with advanced therapy medicinal products
- TS: Molecular, Cellular and System Physiolgy
- JC: Stress signaling in the skin
- JC: Molecular biology, biochemistry and pharmacology of cellular signal transduction
- JC: Hot topics in Molecular Medicine
- TS: Experimental design in molecular medicine research
- Basic Seminar (BSE): Cellular signal transduction
- JC: Cancer, inflammation and thrombosis
- TS: Applied experimental pharmacology
- TS: Current topics in nerve-muscle research
