The 2015 amendment of the Reproductive Medicine Act has changed the situation in Austria. The aim of the international, interdisciplinary symposium was to create a dialogue between domestic reproductive medicine and international developments and debates.   On the first day of the symposium these questions were explored  in different formats including a keynote lecture, two panel-sessions and a concluding panel discussion (with a focus on the Austrian situation) in German language.  Two panel-sessions focusing on rare diseases and an international debate within the UNESCO followed on the second day.
